John Mayer is going on tour in support of his new album, Born and Raised.

The 34-year-old singer, who recently recovered from throat surgery, is wasting no time making his comeback.

Scheduled to kick off with a performance in April, the Born and Raised tour is Mayer's first in two years.

Tickets for the 2012 tour are set to go on sale on Mar. 2, with some of the performances selling seats via Tickets for Charity. According to JohnMayer.com, proceeds from the tickets purchased through the organization will benefit returning veterans.

Shadow Days, the first single off Born and Raised, made its radio debut across the country on Tuesday.

In a recent interview with MTV, Mayer describes the new album as having organic cowboy guitar sounds, adding that he had this very romantic thought when it came to the album's vibe.

What would it sound like if I wrote an album of cowboy songs on this guitar under the stars? he added.

The Grammy Award winning singer, known for hits like Body Is a Wonderland, and Waiting on the World to Change, was diagnosed in September 2011 with granuloma, a serious throat condition. As a result, Mayer underwent surgery one month later to remove the enlarged nodule located just above his vocal chord.

Back to full singing capacity, Mayer's tour includes 21 shows as he gets ready to release Born and Raised, which drops May 22.
