In a development that will surely disappoint many “Full House” fans, actor John Stamos was arrested for driving under the influence of one substance or another in California Friday night. Nobody was hurt during the incident, but Stamos, 51, is now facing a pretty serious charge.

The actor was pulled over by Beverly Hills Police Department officers after they received numerous calls about a possible drunk driver in the area, E Online reported. When police caught up with the “Fuller House” hype man, they brought him to a nearby hospital because of a possible medical condition. The nature of the condition wasn’t disclosed, but once Stamos was at the hospital, police allegedly determined that he had been driving under the influence and arrested him for DUI. He was issued a citation and released to the care of the hospital.

US Weekly reported the actor is scheduled to appear in court due to the DUI arrest Sept. 11. According to DMV.org, a private-sector information provider, California’s penalties for DUI convictions include community service, DUI school, fines, license suspensions, and, in very extreme cases, jail time.

While there’s no right time for a DUI arrest, the actor is in especially hot water right now given that he’s not only stepping back into family television but also reprising his role as beloved Uncle Jesse in the popular 1980s-1990s situation comedy “Full House.” Stamos recently revealed he’ll be an executive producer of a new series in conjunction with Netflix that will see almost the entire main cast of “Full House” reunite to help springboard a handful of characters into a spinoff series titled “Fuller House.” In addition, he’s set to appear in the Fox series “Grandfathered.”
