Johnson joins the Nationals as advisor to GM
Former major league manager Davey Johnson has been named senior advisor to Washington Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo, the team said Wednesday in a statement.
A former World Series-winning player with the Orioles and manager of the Mets, the 66-year-old Johnson joins the Nationals after managing Team USA to a semi-final berth in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
The Nationals had a major league-worst 59-103 record in 2009.
