A 20-year-old maintenance worker who lives at the same apartment as complex where Jorelys Rivera, 7, is said to have been murder was arrested on Wednesday.

Ryan Brunn has been charged with killing Rivera.

Rivera disappeared on Friday from the playground near the River Ridge apartment community. She lived with her mother in Canton, Ga. The girl's body was found three days later a dumpster.

Brunn doesn't have a criminal history, but Georgia Bureau of Investigation director Vernon Keenan told reporters they are confident that Brunn is the killer and that is why he is in custody.

Brunn said that tips from the public led authorities to Brunn, as he was working at the complex since Nov.7.

We believe that this horrendous crime was planned and calculated, Keenan told reporters.

He also said that prior to Brunn's arrest on Wednesday, authorities had the suspect under surveillance since the night before.

Authorities said Rivera was abducted and taken to an empty apartment nearby, as Keenan said police have evidence the murder happened in that empty apartment.

At some point, the child's body was then disposed of in the Dumpster and compacted into trash, he said, as reported by CNN.

ABC News reported that Keenan said the investigation will continue on for several months because it is a mammoth case.

We believe this horrendous crime was planned and calculated and we've recovered a lot of evidence that will require processing, Keenan said. He didn't say what evidence was gathered.
