Belieb it, he's free. Well, sort of.

"Believe" superstar Justin Bieber was released Thursday afternoon after he was arrested in Miami Beach, Fla., early in the morning for driving under the influence and speeding in a residential area. With model Chantel Jeffries in his Lamborghini, the Canadian singer was reportedly doing 55-60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Hordes of paparazzi and onlookers had waited for the teen pop superstar to be released from Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, People.com wrote. A solemn-looking Bieber shielded his eyes from the bright sun with oversized sunglasses. He donned a black sweatshirt with leather jeans. The way the teen addressed his fans and the media perched atop the vehicle was reminiscent of Michael Jackson standing on top his SUV in January 2004, when he pleaded not guilty to seven felony counts of child molestation. The 19-year-old Bieber, who told arresting officers he had smoked marijuana all day and took prescription drugs, was charged with DUI and released on a $2,500 bond.

Though smiling in his mug shot and stoic throughout his court hearing, Bieber exited the correctional center with a glum look plastered across his face. A source told People.com, he had cried “his eyes out” when he was in the detention center.

According to TMZ, marijuana wasn’t the only drug that was in Bieber’s system when he was arrested. He reportedly told police he had taken a drug similar to Xanax (an anti-anxiety prescription medication), but he wasn’t entirely sure what it was because his mother Patti gives it to him. The gossip site added that it’s unknown if Bieber has a prescription for the drug and his mother takes care of it, or if he was using her prescription.

The teenager wouldn’t be penalized for having the drug in his system if he has a prescription, but he clearly is in trouble for his blood alcohol content being .40.
