Justin Theroux is enjoying his life as a newlywed, but he wasn’t so thrilled leading up to the wedding. His marriage to Jennifer Aniston was very secretive, which made the “Leftovers” actor feel like he was missing out.

“I wouldn’t say it was fun to plan,” Theroux told the New York Daily News.

Aniston and Theroux were married in a secret ceremony on Aug. 5 in California, but they told guests that it was a surprise party for Theroux’s 44th birthday. Keeping their guests in the dark took some of the joy out of preparing for the big day.

“Part of the fun of planning a wedding is telling people and we had to keep it under wraps,” Theroux explained.

Still, plenty of friends showed up to the celebration. Celebrity guests included Howard Stern, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Sia, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi and more celebrities, all of whom handed their cell phones over before attending the ceremony. After the wedding was over, the new husband finally was able to relax.

“It was like your blood pressure goes down two PSI [after the wedding],” Theroux explained. “It’s not like life is completely different. It’s a beautiful thing.” Surely, their honeymoon in Bora Bora was also helped induce the calmness.

The two went right back to work after their post-wedding vacation. Theroux headed back to Austin, Texas, to film HBO’s “The Leftovers” Season 2 while Aniston, 46, had to promote her film, “She’s Funny That Way.”

During her press tour, Aniston was asked about how she and her husband kept the wedding a secret in August, but she didn’t mention the stress. However, she told "Good Morning America" it took a lot of determination not to reveal her big secret. “Where there is a will, there is a way,” Aniston noted.
