At least 48 people, including women and children, were killed in Tuesday's suicide attack on a Shi'ite Muslim shrine in the centre of the Afghan capital Kabul, chief of the city's criminal investigation department Mohammad Zahir said.

48 civilians (were) killed and more than 100 wounded including women and children. It's not clear yet who carried out the attack. Nobody has claimed responsibility, he said, adding that the death toll may rise.
