Over the weekend, Kim Kardashian announced via Twitter that the kitten she got in September, died from euthanasia.

According to the starlet, she gave the cat away two weeks ago, after she discovered she was allergic to the white Persian kitten, named Mercy. Kardashian posted on Friday that the four-month old cat was euthanized because of a condition unknown to her when she got Mercy.

"It is with deep sadness that I have to tell you all that my kitten, Mercy, has passed away. My heart is completely broken," Kardashian wrote on her blog.

Kardashian also added that she had given the kitten away two weeks ago after having an allergic reaction.

"When I first got Mercy, I had never lived with a cat before and so I had no idea that I was allergic," the star wrote. "I thought that it might pass, but after a few weeks I decided to go visit two separate allergists, one of whom said my allergies wouldn't get any better unless I started taking injections."

Kardashian said she "didn't think it was safe to resort to injections," and gave the cat to her sister Khloe Kardashian's assistant Sydney Hitchcock, who discovered the kitty had a cancer-like virus.

"Sydney gave Mercy a loving home, but after a couple of weeks Mercy got really sick and Sydney had to rush her to the vet. They discovered she had a stomach problem that we weren't aware of," Kardashian wrote. "Poor little Mercy died the very next day."

E! News reported the kitten's new owner had done all she could to save the cat, including emergency hospital runs, but its condition would not improve.

Kardashian first got the kitten back in September as a gift from boyfriend, Kanye West.

"My new baby Mercy! #Teacup Persian" she tweeted back in September along with Warhol style four photo square of the kitten. Gossip blogs then speculated that Kardashian named the kitten after a song written West.
