“Dancing With the Stars” champ Karina Smirnoff and fiancé (or ex-fiancé?) MLB player Brad Penny aren’t just postponing their wedding. They have called off the whole thing and gone their separate ways, claims an E! Online report.

E! Online said a source close to the two explained that “they are just two different people.”

Smirnoff, however, was just wearing her engagement ring on Saturday for a photo shoot. The E! Online source countered that Smirnoff wears the ring for photo ops but takes it off when the cameras are gone.

CNN reported that during her successful championship run in the latest season of “Dancing With the Stars,” she never once mentioned Penny on stage and Penny was never spotted in attendance.

Smirnoff and Penny first announced their engagement in 2010.

“We went to this restaurant and [my manager] got on her phone and said 'this guy is killing me,' and got up and walked away. Then Brad walked in and it still didn't register. He got down on one knee and he opened the box and I said, 'Thank you'. I honestly didn't expect it,” Smirnoff told People.

Then, in October 2011, a source close to the couple told Us Weekly that they are postponing the wedding.

“They are still together, but have conflicting schedules… [They] want to spend more time with one another, especially while planning their wedding,” said the source.

Smirnoff and Penny met through mutual friend Chuck Liddell, a former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant.

Previously, she was engaged to “Dancing with the Stars” colleague Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Before that, she dated “Dancing With the Stars” partner Mario Lopez.
