Reality-TV mom Kate Gosselin has long been accused of being too strict with her large brood on TLC’s “Kate Plus 8,” but according to new claims, her infamous mean streak and personal issues goes much deeper off camera.

According to a report from InTouch Weekly, in the newly enhanced tell-all book “Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled The World“ author Robert Hoffman, a former tabloid reporter, accuses the 39-year-old mother of twins Cara and Mady, 13, and sextuplets, Leah, Collin, Aiden, Alexis, Hannah and Joel, 10, of not only child abuse but also alcoholism.

“Kate is an unfit mother,” Hoffman told the magazine following his expose’s re-release. (The book originally debuted in 2012 but was pulled after a lawsuit filed by Gosselin, one she eventually dropped.) “People will be shocked to learn that the cruelty in the Gosselin house is still very much going on.”

According to Hoffman, who obtained his information from one of Gosselin’s computer hard drives (allegedly thanks to the help of ex Jon Gosselin), the Pennsylvania mom has carried out “violent spankings” and has been known to banish her children outdoors during the winter months for “minor offenses.”

“Hoffman claims Kate was caught on video beating two of her kids. She allegedly keeps an oversized spoon in the car to punish the children,” added the tabloid’s report, which included an image of said weapon visible in Gosselin’s vehicle.

Not only does Hoffman accuse Gosselin, who split from her longtime beau Jon, 37, in 2009, of child abuse, he also claims she has a problem with alcohol.

“Kate’s drinking is something the children are accustomed to,” Hoffman says in the tell-all, according to the tabloid. “Kate once fell down the stairs while drunk in front of the children and the oldest girls helped her up and cleaned up the broken glass from her drink.”

Hoffman goes on to write that Gosselin’s drinking problem, at one point, even became apparent to her staffers. According to the report, a baby-sitter was once promptly fired after suggesting Gosselin not get behind the wheel after appearing intoxicated. “[Kate] snapped at her and told her not to question her again,” claims Hoffman.

While the expose suggests that the TV star is still “hitting the bottle,” Hoffman said her last binge occurred after losing out on an opportunity to serve as a permanent co-host on ABC’s "The View" last July. (A job which ultimately went to the recently terminated Jenny McCarthy.) “She went into a weeks-long depression filled with binge drinking and violent outbursts,” said the author.

Gosselin and her brood (sans Jon) last appeared on television in June in TLC’s two-part catch-up special “Kate Plus 8: Sextuplets Turned 10.”
