After almost a week of waiting for Kate Middleton's arrival at St. Mary’s Hospital, Us Weekly reported Friday that the Duchess is currently en route to London with husband Prince William in tow, stirring rumors that the royal baby due date is finally upon us.

According to the report, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were escorted by police from her hometown of Bucklebury, where she was visiting with family prior to her due date. The couple reportedly "abruptly departed" their location at around 3 p.m. Friday, with all royal protection officers following. A rep from Kensington Palace refused to comment on Middleton's change of location, saying only, "We wouldn't comment on the exact whereabouts of the Duke and Duchess -- we wouldn't normally do so in their private time."

The report, which comes the same day a "well-placed" unidentified source revealed to the UK's Telegraph that Middleton's due date is Friday, a departure from the originally speculated date of July 13. “A number of staff at St. Mary’s who might be called upon when the Duchess gives birth were told they had to remain teetol [sober] for a month before the due date,” said the source. “They were told the due date was July 19. ... Only a handful of people were told, because there are very few hospital staff who might be needed in the case of an emergency.”

The palace, which has remained mum on an exact due date for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child, previously announced that the royal couple is expecting their child in mid-July. Expectant father Prince William’s stepmother, Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles, revealed Saturday during a children’s hospice event that her daughter-in-law is expected to give birth “later this week.”
