Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's styles have to be in sync with Queen Elizabeth II whenever they are with the monarch.

The Duchess of Cambridge and the "Suits" actress have made waves due to their fashion influence and have become known for the Kate Effect and Meghan Effect. However, Middleton and Markle have to adjust their fashion according to the queen's preference whenever they are with her.

According to Mirror, one of the big no-no's for Markle and Middleton is wearing wedges if they are in the presence of the monarch. Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly not a fan of the shoes. "The Queen isn't a fan of wedged shoe," a source told Vanity Fair. "She really doesn't like them and it's well known among the women in the family."

The Duchess of Cambridge has been spotted wearing wedges on several occasions. In fact, she's been photographed sporting them while attending royal engagements. However, Middleton reportedly never wears wedge shoes in front of Prince William's grandmother.

Markle, who will be joining the royal family soon, is expected to follow the same rule. However, some believe that the "Horrible Bosses" star might still wear them as she often breaks royal protocol.

For instance, all women in the royal family are expected to wear nude tights when they are out and about. But Markle decided to show off her bare legs when she and Prince Harry announced their engagement.

Markle has been bending royal's fashion code multiple times already. For instance, according to Christine Ross, Meghan's Mirror editor, there a "no-black rule" in the royal dressing protocol.

However, Markle wore a black outfit when she visited Brixton and Cardiff. In addition, she kept her messy bun which has already garnered criticism from royal fans.

"Meghan is already showing us that she is carving her own path as a royal. She is pushing the royal envelope with her style choices," Ross told E! News. "Royalty almost never wears black, except for somber occasions, so today's look was a surprise for royal watchers. The no-black rule is followed by every major royal woman around the world. Meghan looked very chic and professional, but I don't imagine we will see much more black after the wedding."

In addition, Markle broke another protocol when she signed an autograph during her visit to Wales. The royals are expected to say "no" to this for security purposes. They are taking safety measures for fear that their signatures might be copied and forge.
