Catherine "Kate" Middleton made a solo trip to Luxembourg Thursday to commemorate the 1867 Treaty of London. The Duchess of Cambridge took over major royal duties after Queen Elizabeth II's health issues last year, and there have been several rumors about the mother of two becoming the queen of England in future.

Middleton looked stunning in a pale blue Emilia Wickstead coat dress as she arrived in the town to celebrate the cultural ties between Luxembourg and the United Kingdom. The duchess completed her look with pointed nude pumps and minimal jewelry. During her visit to Luxembourg, Middleton visited the Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art and the Place Clairefontaine to tour a cycling themed festival.

“There has been a lot of interest in this visit by the Duchess locally, not just from the media but from local people too, and it will certainly help bilateral relations between our countries,” the U.K.’s ambassador to Luxembourg, Yvonne White, reportedly said about Middleton's visit Thursday.

The 35-year-old took over several roles from the queen last December after the monarch missed a number of high-profile engagements due to a heavy cold. Middleton now divides her time between attending key events and raising a young prince and princess of England.

When the queen does eventually end her reign as Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Prince Charles, the duchess’ father in law is next in line to take the throne and will become king. However, with Charles already aged 68 many speculate he may give up the throne, making Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, the next king. Although Middleton wouldn’t occupy the throne, the duchess would be expected to take the title of queen.

The third and fourth in line to the British throne are Middleton and William's children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Whenever the queen steps down, Middleton would be one of the popular choices to be given the title of queen. A poll last year indicated 66 percent of Britons held a favorable or very favorable opinion of Middleton.

Not only has Middleton been following in the footsteps of the queen in terms of royal duties, she is also following the monarch's fashion.

In March, Middleton and the queen were both seen wearing identical outfits with different color schemes. The reason behind Middleton copying the queen's fashion has been seen by many as a way of Prince William's wife both reflecting and honoring the grandmother of her husband.

Earlier this month, rumors about the queen's bad health surfaced after Buckingham Palace called for an emergency meeting. While some speculated the queen may announce her abdication, other reports claimed that Prince Philip had died. The palace however debunked thosee rumors, saying both the queen and Prince Philip were in good health.

The emergency meeting that was called and the subject of those speculations, turned out to be a pre-cursor to the announcement of Prince Philip, who will turn 96 in June, giving up his royal duties after August.

After the events already scheduled till August, he will not take up any more.
