At not quite one year of age, HRH Prince George has yet to utter his first public statement, but his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 32, have hardly kept quiet about their bundle of joy.

Ahead of the British royal’s first birthday Tuesday, here are seven of William and Kate’s best quotes about Prince George:

On whom he takes after:

One day after giving birth to Prince George, Kate Middleton was beaming when she left St. Mary’s Hospital in London, with her husband, Prince William, by her side sporting an equally large grin. After the duchess passed George into William’s arms, the duo approached the press, giving a statement on the newborn royal.

“He’s got a good pair of lungs on him, that’s for sure. He’s a big boy, he’s quite heavy,” William said, later revealing that his son takes after his mother. “He’s got her looks, thankfully,” he said. “No, no, no,” Middleton said, laughing off the remark.

On being a first-time mom:

While her husband made quips, the new mother was decidedly more open about her son’s arrival.

“It’s very emotional,” Middleton told reporters outside St. Mary’s Hospital. “It’s such a special time. I think any parent will know what this feeling feels like.”

On his personality:

“He’s a little bit of a rascal,” William told ABC News of a then one-month-old Prince George, comparing the youngster’s demeanor to his younger self and his brother, Prince Harry. “He’s a little fighter. He wriggles around quite a lot, which is a little bit of a problem.”

On their first night out:

Three months after welcoming their son into the world, William and Kate stepped out for their first royal engagement at the Tusk Conversations Awards, an event which was both exciting and anxiety-producing for the new royal parents.

“As you might have gathered, Catherine and I have recently become proud parents – of a baby who has a voice to match any lion's roar!” William said during his speech. “This is actually our first evening out without him, so please excuse us if you see us nervously casting surreptitious glances at our mobile phones to check all is well back home.”

On his first few months:

Vanity Fair recently noted that George was “colicky” during his first few months. William described the situation during a visit to Royal New Zealand Air Force base of Whenuapai, near Auckland, in April.

According to Hello Magazine, Britain's future king told military families that the prince’s “first five months” were rough but, over time, things had “got a bit easier.”

When questioned by a mother about how Prince William's military career affected her child-rearing, Middleton reportedly said that she simply learned "to get by."

On his sleeping schedule:

During his three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia in April, Prince William took a moment away from Prince George, then 8 months, to discuss his son’s sleeping schedule -- or lack thereof -- at a state dinner.

“I hope that George doesn’t keep you up. He has been known to be particularly vocal at 3 a.m.,” William told his governor's residence hosts. “I swear I heard him doing the haka this morning.”

On bath time:

A visit with the British Sub-Aqua Club in London last month seemed like the perfect opportunity for William to share the qualms that come with bathing an 11-month-old.

“At the moment, bath time is quite painful,” William dished to reporters about his son. (His own father, Prince Charles, 65, stood nearby). “But hopefully donning a snorkel mask might calm him down."
