Kate Middleton and Prince William seemed to have taken a cue from the European royals during their photoshoot in the French Alps. The royal couple along with their two kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, had gone on a snowy vacation over the weekend. It was their first photoshoot out of their home as a family-of-four.
Kensington Palace released a series of six photographs from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s snowy vacation inspired by other snow-loving European royals. The fun holiday pictures were clicked by Press Association photographer John Stillwell. A Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed that William and Kate flew out for a long weekend, and wanted to share the snaps with the public.
Meanwhile, the Belgian and Dutch royals have participated in playful photocalls during their winter getaways in February, and may have inadvertently inspired the Duke and Duchess and their young family. The Dutch and Belgian royal families headed to Switzerland for their annual skiing holidays, while the Danish royals and the Swedish royals are also avid ski enthusiasts.
Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander along with their three daughters Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane went to Lech, Austria. It is the same resort that William used to visit as a young boy with his brother Prince Harry and his parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The family posed for pictures on the slopes.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgians, and their four children Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and seven-year-old Princess Eléonor visited Switzerland earlier. They posed outside their chalet in Verbier. Last year, during the same time Crown Princess Mary, Prince Frederik and their four kids enjoyed a skiing holiday in Verbier.
Frederik’s brother Prince Joachim, his wife Princess Marie and their children Prince Henrik and Princess Athena were also holidaying in the nearby Villars resort. Besides, Princess Estelle of Sweden during her third birthday in 2015 showed off her skiing skills in Switzerland.
Kate and William appear playful in their new pictures throwing snowballs at each other. The 34-year-old Kate wore her favorite white E + O ski jacket with fur hood paired with red ski trousers. She covered her head with an Eisbar “Alwin” woollen hat, Uvex ski goggles and Sorel Women’s Caribou boots.
Kate accessorized with her white topaz stud earrings “Grace” by Kiki McDonough and her engagement ring. William, meanwhile, opted for a blue jacket by Spyder with Oakley goggles. The 33-year-old royal paired it with black ski trousers and matching hat.
Though the palace has not revealed their secret holiday location, according to Daily Mail, they enjoyed their break in the Alpine village of Courchevel.
