Carole Middleton, along with other members of Kate Middleton’s immediate family, are playing an important role in the royal family’s lives by helping provide a “normal” childhood for Princess Charlotte and Prince George, along with introducing “middle-class” values to the royal couple, insiders say.

The Middleton family seem to have taken center stage in helping the Duke and Duchess raise their family, the Daily Beast reported. Since the recent birth of Princess Charlotte, grandma Carole Middleton has been active in helping Prince William and Kate Middleton take care of the new baby, along with her brother Prince George. The strong influence of the Middletons in the royal couple’s lives is also apparent in how William and Kate are adamant about establishing a “normal middle-class” family life for their children.

The birth of Prince George in July 2013 offered the first hints of how valued the Middleton grandparents would be, and the same thing happened when Princess Charlotte was born May 2. Carole along with daughter Pippa Middleton were the first guests to call on the new baby at Kensington Palace earlier this month, as reported by Hello magazine. They arrived at the palace early May 3, followed by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and later proud grandfather Michael Middleton.

Prince William and Kate have also adapted as much of a normal and “middle-class” type of family as they could. E! News reported earlier this month that the royal couple are going to extraordinary lengths to try and give Prince George and Princess Charlotte some semblance of a normal family life. One example is the royal couple’s decision to move to their country estate at Anmer Hall in order to provide a quiet and “ordinary” environment for the children. Prince William even took on the job of an air ambulance pilot to help teach his children what a normal family looks like. Most importantly, spending time with Kate’s close-knit family will help provide a normal childhood versus the traditional detached royal upbringing.

And lately, the Middletons have indeed been spending a lot of time with the royal family. Grandmother Carole Middleton has been staying in Norfolk since Princess Charlotte’s birth, and is expected to stay there for another month. Kate’s sister Pippa and brother James are also frequent visitors at Anmer Hall.
