The Gosselin kids are back! Six months after the former “Jon and Kate Plus 8” stars returned to TLC for a two-part birthday party episode, the first installment of the 2015 “Kate Plus 8” reality-TV special, "New England Adventures,” premiered Tuesday.

As part of their annual summer vacation, Kate Gosselin, 39, took her eight kids — twins Maddie and Carrie, 14, and 10-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Collin, Leah, Alexis, Hannah and Joel, on an East Coast adventure. Her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, and rumored new boyfriend, millionaire businessman Jeff Prescott, were nowhere in sight.

The installment kicked off off with a drama-free trip to Massachusetts, where the family toured the Plimoth Plantation. Kate and her brood learned how the Pilgrims lived and even dressed up in 17th-century garb before heading to their next destination, Lincolnville, Maine. That was where the happy times quickly soured.

Unfortunately for Kate, their arrival was not drama-free. As the promo for the 2015 special indicated, it was her girls who gave her the most trouble when deciding which kids would sleep in which rooms in their vacation rental home.

After Kate announced that Alexis would sleep on the couch while her sisters would sleep in bunk beds, the girl broke down into tears. Despite Kate giving in, saying she would sleep on the couch and let her daughter to room with her sisters, the hysterics continued after Alexis revealed she wanted the top bunk and Leah disagreed.

“She gets what she wants every time, Mommy, and I’m not letting her this time!” Leah argued.

“More and more they just have minds of their own and I’m just like I surrender, whatever!” Kate said. “They’re old enough where I just go, you figure it out because what I think and what they think is daily becoming very different.”

Kate’s younger girls were not the only ones creating havoc. Maddie made her upset known after she realized their vacation home was not Internet-friendly. “Didn’t have phone service, number one. Didn’t have Wi-Fi, number two,” Maddie complained. "This is a struggle.”

Despite their rocky start in Maine, day two of the Gosselin’s vacation went off without a hitch. After waking up to a less-than-sunny day, the brood enjoyed an impromptu crab fishing adventure.

“I definitely enjoyed the beach more than I thought. It turned out to be a miniature crab fest,” Kate said. “I just wish those suckers were bigger so I could have eaten their legs!”

After their beach excursion, the kids used inspiration from the ocean to create their own paintings. The episode concluded with a quick trip to a ropes course. Kate did not participate due to her fear of heights.

The second episode in “Kate Plus 8” 2015 special will air Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.
