Theater geeks and music fans are buzzing over NBC's latest musical drama, "Smash," which makes its official debut on network television tonight. American Idol Season 5 runner up Katherine McPhee made an appearance at the rival singing competition The Voice to talk about Smash, McPhee’s new series.

McPhee also said that she would be performing her own version of one of Coach’s several hits.

The American Idol 5 runner up talked about NBC’s new musical drama where she will appear alongside FlashForward star Jack Davenport and Will & Grace’s Debra Messing. The series will also be the lead in to The Voice, this fall, on Monday.

McPhee said that she would also be performing her own version of Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” on the new show, the Hollywood Reporter reported.
