Katherine Webb, the famous girlfriend of University of Alabama quarterback AJ MaCarron, admits that she’s “really nervous” to attend her first-ever Iron Bowl because of her ties to rival Auburn.

Webb, Miss Alabama 2012 and a former reality-TV star, will be in attendance Saturday as McCarron leads the top-ranked Crimson Tide into their annual Iron Bowl matchup against the No. 4 Auburn Tigers. While Webb has attended her boyfriend’s games on several occasions, she has never witnessed McCarron play in what is arguably college football’s most intense rivalry game, and she admits she’s a bit worried.

“This is the first actual game, Iron Bowl, that I will be attending,” Webb told USA Today in an exclusive interview. “I don’t know what to expect and I’m really nervous.”

While this is the first time she’ll attend the Iron Bowl at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium, she had ties to the interstate rivalry long before she started dating McCarron; Webb is an Auburn graduate. The aspiring model’s ties to Auburn, coupled with her current relationship with the quarterback of the university’s biggest rival on the football field, could make her an easy target for would-be hecklers—a possibility that isn’t lost on McCarron. During the USA Today interview, Webb admitted that the Heisman Trophy candidate is concerned about her safety.

“AJ just in his protective nature, we talked about it last night,” she said. “And he was like, ‘I’m concerned. I don’t know what the fans are gonna do.’ And I’m like, ‘It’s OK. I’ll be sweet, genuine, and nice, like I always am if anything were to happen.”

Webb doesn’t appear to be overly worried about how she will be received by Auburn fans. She reportedly told USA Today that she’s experienced both sides of the rivalry and has rarely run into any trouble.

The former reality television star also talked about how she and McCarron handle the constant rumors that swirl around their relationship. In September, a report from gossip website Radar Online suggested that Webb and McCarron had decided to break up, citing Webb’s mother as a source. While talking with USA Today, Webb said that she and her boyfriend try to keep their personal lives out of the media spotlight.

“We’ve both decided not to react to rumors or anything like that,” Webb told the newspaper. “We just want to kind of shy away in the media. So unless it’s something that would hinder our reputation or something like that, that’s maybe the case that we would address something.”

The Crimson Tide will take on the Tigers in the Iron Bowl at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Look for Webb to get more than her share of screen time.
