Katy Perry recently shared how she balances her work in ABC’s upcoming “American Idol” reboot, as well as her ongoing world tour.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the “Roar” singer revealed that staying single is how she’s able to juggle between the two. “I’m a bit younger at heart! I’m a bit more mature… single! You know, when you’re single, you got a lot of time to yourself and a lot of energy, and I’m just finding a balance,” she said.

Perry also joked about her fellow judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, “pulling a lot of weight.” The trio has already come together for the upcoming second round of auditions for the hit singing reality TV competition. In August, the open call auditions for “American Idol” reboot already kicked off and those who will make it past the first round will have the chance to meet Perry, Richie and Bryan.

In August, Perry dished on what fans can expect from her as a judge in the competition. While speaking with “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest on “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” (via Billboard) the “Dark Horse” singer that she will be more like Simon Cowell. The music mogul served a judge in the first couple of seasons of “Idol” when it still aired on Fox.

“I really respect him. As much as people said, ‘oh, he’s grumpy or he’s mean,’ he was just truthful, you know? I don’t need to be there to win the popular race, I just need to be there to find someone I can make their dreams come true,” she said.

During the same interview and before Lionel was announced as a third judge, Perry also said that she’s rooting for him. “Because I think Lionel is an icon. And not only that, if you’ve ever seen or met Lionel, he just knows how to charm the whole room, and he’s such an artisan with words. His presence just brightens the whole room,” she said.

“American Idol” reboot will premiere on ABC sometime next year.
