Kanye West has launched an attack through Twitter on Britney Spears, after the singer's latest single went to number one ahead of West's own collaboration with Jay-Z.

West tweeted, Yo Britney, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z's single is one of the best songs of all time!, followed by the acronym 'LOL'. He even made a reference to the time he told Taylor Swift that she did not deserve the VMA award back in 2009.

Spears's manager Adam Leber was quick to respond to the jibe with a tweet that said, Thanks for 'letting us be #1'.

This reponse made West go in firefighting mode and he again posted that it was just meant to be a joke and he was genuinely happy for Spears’ success. According to the latest news, Kayne West has even taken down the initial post and replaced it with H*A*M #2 on ITunes… THANK YOU!!!

Spears's new single Hold It Against Me has claimed the top spot on the US iTunes chart for the majority of this week.

Earlier in 209 during the MTV VMA award, he got on stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Video, stole her mic and blurted “Taylor, Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of ALL TIME!”

His misplaced sense of justice did not get him any accolades, instead his notoriety gained him a lot of negative press. Even President Obama commented on his foolishness. West had to work real hard and apologize. He later patched things up with Taylor Swift.

His latest stunt has landed him right in the middle of another controversy, again.
