Consumer prices in Kazakhstan climbed 8.8% year-on-year in April, slowing from an 8.9% rise in the previous month, the country's statistical office said Monday.

On an annual basis, prices of food products rose 8.4%, while those of non-food products increased 7.2%. Price of paid services was up 11.3%.

Month-on-month, consumer prices increased 0.8% in April, marking the same pace as the previous two months.

During the January-April period, consumer prices were up 8.8% from the corresponding period last year.
