Singer Kellie Pickler might be best known for her hit ballads and gliding across the floor on “Dancing with the Stars” but the blonde country star spent her Christmas in Afghanistan to bring "home to our service men and women," she said.

Pickler, 27, delivered holiday cheer for a few days at the Kandahar Airfield base. The former “American Idol” contestant posed for pictures with U.S. troops, visited wounded soldiers and performed for service members, according to the Washington Post.

Pickler took to social media to share pictures of her trip. On Facebook, she posted a picture of herself inside an aircraft. On Twitter, she shared a picture of her giving a soldier a fist pump.

The starlet was in the Middle East during a nine-day tour for the USO's "Every Moment Counts" campaign. Since it was launched on Veteran’s Day, the campaign has been helping troops recreate moments they lost with their families. Pickler performed five shows while she was in the Middle East and it's the seventh time she's participated in a USO tour.

"The USO tours and programs I've been a part of have definitely been the highlight of my career, so I'm honored to join the USO in helping to raise awareness about the many precious moments that our troops and their families sacrifice due to their commitment and service to our country," she said in a statement, as per E! News.

"Every Moment Counts is especially close to my heart because it not only recognizes their personal sacrifices, but gives Americans the opportunity to thank our troops with a special gift of a moment."

In reference to the war effort, she Washington Post quoted her as saying, "If I were an Afghan woman, I would hope someone would help me provide a better life for me and my children.”
