Ink Master Season 8
Kelly Doty had the chance to become the first woman to win "Ink Master." Spike

Former “Ink Master” contestant Kelly Doty made it to the finale Tuesday, but Spike never showed off her 24-hour chest piece tattoo. The artist was the first finalist to be eliminated in the finale after Twitter users chose to advance Ryan Ashley Malarkey and the judges picked Gian Cruz.

Since Doty spent so much time on her canvas, she wanted to share it with her followers. “I'm really proud of it and my only regret is that I didn't get the chance to show everyone,” she wrote on Instagram Wednesday. “But I want to thank Caleb, my master canvas, for sitting through a grueling 24 hours and letting me do this on him!”

Even though Twitter picked Malarkey to move into the final two, the crowd cheered for Doty during the live finale, which was taped in New York City. “I've never experienced anything like that before, and as kind of a weirdo, it meant everything to me,” Doty said about the encouragement the audience showed her. “The amount of support from my friends and heroes and family (which are often one and the same) has been beyond amazing and I really don't have the words for it. I just don't. ”

She didn’t have hard feelings for Malarkey or Cruz. “You're both some of the hardest working most genuine people I've gotten to meet and you have earned everything good that comes from this. I'm so happy for both of you, and very excited for @ryanashleymalarkey and the incredible accomplishment she's achieved!” Doty wrote about Malarkey being the first woman to win “Ink Master.”

In the end, Doty was grateful for the opportunity. “I appreciate everyone's support more than you know but please remember we don't need to tear others down to build ourselves up,” she said.
