Kellyanne Conway, campaign-manager-turned-counselor to President Donald Trump, is known for her tenacity in political battles and TV appearances. But if recent reports are to be believed, Conway may have become involved in a literal altercation Friday after inauguration.

A witness who attended the Liberty Ball — one of the three official balls around Washington, D.C. in the hours after Trump's swearing-in — told the New York Daily News Conway appeared to intervene when two men began fighting. She initially stepped between them, but when they didn't stop, she "apparently punched one of them in the face with closed fists at least three times," the News wrote Monday.

Charles Gasparino, a senior correspondent for Fox Business Network, posted on Facebook about the alleged incident, as well. Gasparino, who also claimed he watched actor Scott Baio get attacked by protesters that same night, wrote that he spotted a fight between two men wearing tuxedos.

"Then suddenly out of nowhere came Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway who began throwing some mean punches at one of the guys," Gasparino said. "Whole thing lasted a few mins no one was hurt except maybe the dude she smacked. Now I know why Trump hired her."

Skeptics seized on the rumors, noting that, despite occurring at a well-attended event, it suspiciously took three days for news of the alleged scuffle to break. Others pointed out that Gasparino's Facebook post referred to the Victory Ball, though the News story reported the fight was at the Liberty Ball.

Conway, who was criticized recently for promoting what she called "alternative facts" amid disagreements over the crowd size at Trump's inauguration, hasn't commented on the reported incident. But she did tell Fox News host Sean Hannity Monday that she is being guarded by the Secret Service, the Hill reported.

"Because of what the press is doing now to me, I have Secret Service protection," Conway said. "We have packages delivered to my house with white substances. That is a shame."
