Ken Reeves, an expert senior meteorologist, vice president and general manager with AccuWeather Inc., died Sunday after tragically falling from his roof in College Township, Pa, while taking down Christmas lights. He was 50 years old.

It is with great shock and sadness that we report fellow Expert Senior Meteorologist, Vice President and General Manager of AccuWeather, Inc. Television Network, Ken Reeves has passed away, accuweather.com posted Monday morning.

Reeves fell off the roof of his College Township home around 5 p.m. Sunday while he was taking off Christmas lights, according to statecollege.com. Neighbors witnessed the tragic fall, the website reported.

Reeves was pronounced dead about an hour later at Mount Nittany Medical Center, the Centre Daily Times reported.

Ken Reeves had been with AccuWeather for 29 years and landed a job with the weather forecasting company after his graduation from Penn State University in 1983. Reeves obtained a Meteorology degree from Penn State.

Born in Philadelphia in 1961, Reeves graduated from Abington High School in 1979, accuweather.com said.

Ken was a person of great energy, was liked by all and will be greatly missed, said AccuWeather CEO Barry Lee Myers.

Dr. Joel N. Myers, founder and president of AccuWeather, said Reeves contributed to the success of the company in many ways over the years.

Alex Sosnowski, a fellow expert senior meteorologist with Accuweather, said he first met Reeves at Penn State, where both men were in the Meteorology Department.

He had a very busy life, not only with spending time with his wife on the West Coast and managing AccuWeather affairs in the office and on the road, but also with the meteorological community, including taking time assisting students pursuing their weather-forecasting dreams, Sosnowski said.

Ken Reeves is survived by his wife, Raychel, his parents, a brother and a sister.
