Some Instagram users accused reality star Khloé Kardashian of “trying to be black” after she posted a picture of herself holding a Popeye’s bag with her friends and family on a jet plane Thursday. The photo received more than 4,600 comments, and her fans went back and forth about the apparently controversial picture.

“Seeing some of the stories/comments in regards to my Instagram. How is any one ‘trying to be black’ because they are eating food?’” she wrote Friday. “I wasn't aware that food was limited to a certain skin color… I thought food was not specific to skin color but to humans in general.” The posts received more than 4,000 likes from her 14.1 million Twitter followers.

Kardashian, 30, followed up her posts with an old saying: “’To break bread together,’ a phrase as old as the Bible, captures the power of a meal to forge relationships, bury anger, provoke laughter.”

By the time Friday rolled around, many of Kardashain’s fans defended her on social media. “Y'all are really reaching for something. Stfu,” one person said. "She's loving it any way, all publicity is good publicity. She's laughing all the way to the bank,” another person wrote.

But Kardashian didn’t dwell on the Popeye’s photo for long. After she addressed the controversy on Twitter, the reality star posted a photo of her niece Penelope.

On the same day, she also shared a clip from "About Bruce," the E! Online special that centers around Bruce Jenner, her stepfather, transitioning into a woman. He previously came out during "Bruce Jenner: The Interview" with Diane Sawyer. For that special, Jenner, a former Olympian, said Kardashian taking his transition the hardest out of all his children. But now it appears Kardashian has opened up after she bought him new clothes for Jenner.

“Do you know how nice this is?" Jenner said when Kardashian presented him with the gift, according to the "About Bruce" clip. "Without even opening them, do you know how nice this is and how much I appreciate this?" She responded, "You deserve it."
