Khloé Kardashian revealed in a new op-ed that she wished her family had “never filmed” elements of the armed robbery of her sister Kim Kardashian in October of last year. The 33-year-old wrote in a piece reflecting on ten years of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” that both the infamous robbery and the transition of Caitlyn Jenner should have never been aired on the reality series.

“Not every episode is juicy to us; it’s only juicy to the audience,” she wrote in Glamour in a piece published Monday. “Things like Kim’s robbery or Caitlyn’s transition? That’s the kind of stuff we wish we had never filmed. We aren’t ever like, ‘Oooh! Let’s do this for season nine.’ This is our life, and these are the things that happen. And it’s funny—when we decide not to shoot things, people feel slighted. But when we film too much, they’re like, ‘Oh, you never should have filmed that.’ It’s a catch-22.”

Kim Kardashian gave her first interview since taking an extended hiatus from appearances and social media with Ellen DeGeneres on the host’s eponymous daytime talk show. The star teared up a number of times while talking about the incident but said that she believed the robbery had changed her for the better.

“It was probably no secret, you see it on the show when I was being flashy. I was definitely materialistic before,” she said. “Not that there’s anything bad with having things and working hard to get those things. I’m really proud of everyone around me who’s successful, but I’m so happy that my kids get this me and that this is who is raising my kids. I just don’t care about that stuff anymore.”

She later revealed she felt the incident made her “such a better person.”

In the wake of the event — during which Kim Kardashian revealed she believed she would be raped or murdered — the Kardashian-Jenner family upped their security detail significantly. The family matriarch Kris Jenner said in June that they all traveled with an “enormous amount of security” and that “everyone is armed and licensed.”

Kim Kardashian addressed the robbery a number of times during season 13 of the E! Series, and key details about her experience and subsequent legal proceedings were addressed on the show. During one particular episode, the 36-year-old beauty maven revealed that it could be years before she returns to the City of Light.

“Not anytime soon — like 5, 6, 7, 10 years,” she told friends who asked if she’d be willing to return. “I don’t want to go anytime soon.”
