'The Killing' Spoilers: What Happened In Season 3? Recap Before The Season 4 Premiere On Netflix

"The Killing" is back! All six episodes of Season 4 premiered Friday on Netflix. This is the final season of the crime series, which debuted on AMC in 2011 and has endured two cancellations in just three years.

Before you start binge-watching the final six episodes of the series, here's everything you need to know about Season 3:

Season 3 follows the search for a serial killer targeting runaway teens. When the season began, Linden (Mireille Enos) has moved on from her former life as a detective, peacefully working for the Vashon Island, Washington, Transit Authority.

But her former partner, Holder (Joel Kinnaman) begins to pull Linden into the search for the new killer when he suspects a connection to the Rosie Larsen case that began the show. After finding a pond full of dead bodies, Linden soon becomes fully caught up in the case.

The police chief and former partner of Linden's, James Skinner (Elias Koteas), launches a full investigation as more runaways disappear.

Meanwhile, Ray Seward (Peter Sarsgaard) sits on death row for the murder of his wife. Linden is the cop who put him away. Linden, after looking back into the case for the current investigation, comes to believe Seward is really innocent and tries to get a stay of execution. She is not able to do so, and Seward is hanged toward the end of the season.

As the investigation drags on, romantic tension between Linden and Skinner builds, but Holder starts to suspect a cop is responsible for the murders.

Linden and Holder find evidence that Seward's son, Adrian, was the real target when Seward's wife was murdered. They help him recall some suspicious events he may have witnessed, but then Adrian goes missing.

Linden discovers that Skinner is responsible for the murders and had killed Seward's wife in an attempt to kill Adrian, a witness to one of his crimes. Linden confronts Skinner at gunpoint, believing Adrian to be dead. Meanwhile, Holder finds Adrian and rushes inform Linden. Despite Holder's pleas, Linden shoots Skinner anyway.

Season 4 will begin hours after Linden and Holder decide to cover up her murder of Skinner. The two will investigate a new string of killings related to an all-boys military school as Linden wrestles with personal demons and Holden prepares to become a father.
