Following her divorce, Kim Kardashian emerged at LAX airport, head bowed, looking sullen as she escaped from a large media crowd, but behind her large black sunglasses is a woman with an eye for business.

Kardashian's wedding to basketball star Kris Humphries in August swept media headlines for its glitz and glamour that held a price tag of up to $10 million dollars. But it was not until 72 days later, when the reality TV star announced her divorce, that the $17.9 million earnings from the wedding seeped to the surface.

The wedding earnings from media coverage alone were broken down by the New York Post:

$15 million for four-hour, two-part wedding special on E!

$2.5 million for exclusive photos with People magazine

$300,000 for an exclusive engagement announcement with People

$100,000 for exclusive rights to a bridal shower with Britain's OK! mag

$50,000 to have a bachelorette party at Tao in Las Vegas

That's not including $400,000 worth of Perrier Jouet Champagne and three $20,000 Vera Wang gowns that were received by the couple as gifts prior to their wedding.

Kardashian officially announced her divorce on Monday after a measly two-month marriage. Rumors of a spilt had been circulating for weeks but TMZ, who claim to have copies of the divorce documents, revealed that the divorce papers were signed on Oct.31, where Karsahian cites that the couple had irreconcilable differences.

After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best, Kardashian said in a statement published on Ryan Seacrest's Web site.

Kardashian will be represented by divorce lawyer, Laura Wasserm, who handles the divorces of A-list celebrities, including Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie, TMZ reported.

Kardashian and Humphries were married on Aug. 20 in Montecito, Calif., where Kardashian walked down the aisle in a stunning ivory Vera Wang gown and a veil studded with diamonds.

The entire ceremony and reception had a black and white theme, with the only stitch of color being the tiny pink box that Humphries' best man, longtime pal Josh Ketroser, presented the rings in. Khloé Kardashian Odom and Kourtney Kardashian were matron and maid of honor, while Kylie and Kendal Jenner and Kris' sister, Kaela Humphries, served as bridesmaids. All wore ivory. White roses were incorporated into the décor.

The food was catered by Wolfgang Puck, and included buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad with basil and tomato chips. The couple's black and white cake was designed by Hansen Cakes in Los Angeles and is reported to have cost $15,000 to $20,000.

No one quite knows why the couple broke up following such a grand wedding, but TMZ speculates that the decision came after the couple could not decide where to live. Humphries has reportedly said he wants to live in Minnesota, while Kardashian has wanted to stay close to her family in L.A.

Sources say it's not a nasty break-up ... but we're told the two have come to a realization that it's not a long-term fit, TMZ reported.
