Kim Kardashian Photoshop Rumors Update: Paper Magazine Nude Butt Picture Was Retouched, Editor Says

Kim Kardashian’s backside was a hot topic for discussion -- even more than usual -- after her photo shoot with Paper magazine. Rumors swirled the viral picture was altered, and on Wednesday the mag’s editorial director Mickey “Mr. Mickey” Boardman told Us Weekly the picture was “retouched.”

“…There was retouching to clean things up and make things look amazing," he admitted. "That’s what retouching is. It’s not building an ass that isn’t there or taking 50 pounds off the waist."

Boardman made the argument that such retouching is standard operating procedure. "Every cover of every magazine is airbrushed on some level," Boardman told the magazine.

He defended the image of Kardashian’s derriere: "…I will say, is that is her butt. It is not padded. It is not augmented,” Boardman said. “That is all really her.”

Things done to enhance the photo were superb lighting by French photographer Jean-Paul Goude. Kardashian was also “oiled up” by makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, a source told Us Weekly.

The photographer was reportedly thrilled to work with the reality star. "He was so happy and so excited with the pictures,” Boardman said. "He was like a kid in a candy store by the time we got rolling.”

Paper magazine released more pictures of Kardashian, who is 34, on Wednesday in an article titled "#nofilter." This time, instead of just her famous booty, she's shown in full frontal nudity. Paper magazine said that despite the “hoopla,” she is a real woman -- one who looks thinner than in pictures. "Unlike most people, she looks exactly the same in person as she does in photographs or on television, with one exception: she is smaller than she appears in images,” the magazine wrote. “She is like a beautiful anime character come to life.”

Kardashian shared the link to the article on her Twitter account, “Because we know you came just read the article,” she said.

After her Paper magazine cover went viral, Kardashian posted a series of pictures with her husband to Instagram. Kanye West, who apparent support’s his wife’s decision to pose nude, can be seen kissing his daughter’s mother in various pictures. “<3 him,” she wrote. “The Wests,” she captioned another picture.
