Police officer, Kimberly Munley, was hailed as the Fort Hood hero in Texas after she shot down the gunman in Thursdays shooting rampage.

The shooting suspect, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, went on a shooting spree killing 13 people before he was brought down by Munley.

Hasan is recovering in hospital; Munley was also wounded in the shooting and is also recovering from gunshot wounds.

Hasan was an army psychiatrist.
