The ongoing crisis in the beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines had its first casualty as the wife of an employee committed suicide Thursday reportedly due to financial stress.

The victim’s husband is an engineer with the private airline and is based in New Delhi.

According to the Indian media reports, the police sources recovered a suicide note that stated that “financial stress” was the reason for her extreme step.

The cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines has not paid salaries since March and the employees strike demanding salaries has forced the air carrier to declare a partial lockout.

Meanwhile, in another development, airline’s company secretary Bharath Raghavan resigned from his post, according to CNN IBN.

Sanjay Aggarwal, chief executive officer of the airlines, had told the agitating airline employees that he would try and ensure the timely payment of future salaries. However, Kingfisher’s staff in New Delhi announced that the talks held with the management in the city had failed as there was no commitment from the management side on the payment of salary dues and they would not be rejoining work unless the salaries were paid.
