The New Zealand dollar traded higher against major currencies following the release of Q4 GDP and trade balance reports in early Asian trading on Friday. At about 6:05 pm ET, the kiwi was worth 57.09 against the yen, 1.2167 versus the Aussie, 2.3434 against the euro and 0.5779 versus the US dollar. Currently, the NZ dollar is trading at 0.5772 against the greenback, 1.2174 versus the Aussie and 56.98 versus the yen.

Statistics NZ reported Friday that the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the fourth quarter contracted 0.9 percent compared to the third quarter. On a yearly basis, the GDP shrank 1.9 percent, compared to Q4 of one year earlier.

The agency also said the Trade Balance in February quoted at NZ$ 4.898 Billion.
