The acquisition puts Klout in the local and mobile game. Marketers are beginning to notice as brands start to make perks available for Klout users.

How do you measure influence? In the real world it's how many hands you shake and can trust to donate or vote to your campaign. Eventually leading to a final result of who influenced the most people. Throughout this process we rely on polls distributed through news outlets to influence us with their analysis of influence.

Here's a video on how Klout got startedWithin social there is this gaining trust toward Klout as the standard for influence measurement. While still in BETA, the startup founded in 2008 was developed to measure and leverage your influence within your connected networks. These include all the majors like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ as well as Fourqauare, LinkedIN and others coming on board in 2012.

Your Klout (Influence) Score is determined by:

  • True Reach: How many people you influence
  • Amplification: How much you influence them
  • Network Impact: The influence of your network

Given the availability to understand your influence within your networks related to each topic is an advantage for a marketer and SEO companies as well as an opportunity for brands to leverage those who influence. So, the evidential value is quite high, especially after users get a feel for the platform. Keep up to date with these two companies as they push their way into the mainstream.
