The NBA has been awash in trade rumors as teams look to improve their rosters. The New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics are the latest teams that apparently engaged in trade talks. The Celtics are willing to dish out their assets to acquire Kristaps Porzingis, the young 7-footer with a smooth jump shot.

The Celtics have been busy and have reportedly made trade offers regarding Pozingis Thursday. A source close to the trade discussions told ESPN that the Knicks request for the young big man were "ridiculous." The requests were for Boston to give New York its No. 3 draft pick, with a player and bonus lottery pick. According to sources, the Knicks inquired about including Celtics players Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown in potential deals.

These talks seemed to have kicked off after Wednesday, when Knicks president Phil Jackson said that the team was listening to offers for Porzingis. The New York Daily News reported that Jackson requested the third overall pick in Thursday's draft and also wants next year's Brooklyn pick along with Brown and Jae Crowder.

Jackson took to MSG to shed light on the Knicks trade situation regarding Porzingis. He confirmed that the team was getting inquiries relating to the availability of the Knicks big man and that ultimately the team will decide what they think is best for their future.

"We're getting calls. As much as we value Kristaps and what he's done for us, when a guy doesn't show up for an exit meeting, everybody starts speculating on the duration or movability from a club," Jackson said during an interview on MSG Network. "So we've been getting calls and we're listening, but we're not intrigued yet at this level. But as much as we love this guy, we have to do what's good for our club."

Porzingiz isn’t the only one who may feel like his days in a Knicks uniform are numbered. Jackson has been trying to unload Knicks veteran Carmelo Anthony as well. He has apparently been trying to get Anthony, who has immunity, to waive his no-trade clause.

"We’ve expressed the fact that we haven’t been successful and it might be time for (Carmelo) to find an opportunity to go somewhere else," Jackson said. "He’s come back and said he’d just as soon stay, I think we know what we’re doing. That’s all I can say to them. Although it’s not been apparent in our record the last couple years, we’ve grown from within."

He added, "We’ve got young players that are on the move up. It takes time to rebuild with youth. And I think they have confidence in the fact that we’re going to have good players, we’re going to have a good team and we’re going to be on the court competitive."

Jackson, appointed as an overseer of the Knicks franchise, was given a five-year, $60 million contract in 2014 and has not had an especially successful tenure. Since Jackson took the role, the team has seen a losing record of 76-157.
