Kobe and Vanessa Bryant

In a bizarre addendum to the ongoing Kobe Bryant-Vanessa Bryant divorce saga, a tabloid claimed that she told a friend that Kobe slept with 105 women during the course of their marriage.

“[Vanessa] estimated that he was averaging at least 10 affairs a year with different women over the course of their marriage and puts his number of conquests at 105,” an unnamed friend told the tabloid.

“The lies and deceit hurt, of course, but racking up those kinds of numbers is mind-blowing and left her devastated. And when she discovered he was cheating during the recent NBA lockout, that was the final straw. Her private detective caught him red-handed with incriminating photos.”

This figure of “105” raises some questions and issues:

*Why “105” and not a round number? How can she be so sure it was that precise figure?

*Did she keep track of Kobe’s sexual conquests? Presumably, he would’ve tried to hide these affairs from her, no?

*Since they were married for ten years, Kobe was committing adultery on the average of once a month. I wonder if most of these incidents occurred during the NBA season?

*Are these 105 different women, or perhaps 105 different sexual acts with a fewer number of ladies? I would assume that Kobe would’ve had some “repeats”?

*Come to think of it, 105 seems rather low, given the fact that Kobe is a filthy rich, global icon.

*But I find the 105 figure to be more believable than Wilt Chamberlain’s claim of having slept with 20,000 women (but, of course, that was over the course of his whole life, so Kobe, who is only 32, still has plenty of time to catch up). To Chamberlain, 105 would’ve been about a month’s work.

*Will the 105 number figure prominently in Vanessa’s divorce settlement? Will she, say, demand $1-million for each such sexual transgression by her soon-to-be-ex?

*Kobe has changed his uniform number a couple of times, from 8 to 24. Perhaps wearing “105” on his jersey would be more meaningful.

*I wish the NBA would keep track of this stat, like they do with points. rebounds and assists. Thereby at the end of the season, the player with the most sexual trysts under his belt will win sone kind of award. (Most Adulterous Player?)
