After the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Finals Sunday, singer Kehlani employed Instagram to congratulate her ex-boyfriend, Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving, on his team’s win over the Golden State Warriors. Soon, a Vine clip Irving previously posted went viral.

The video shows Irving laughing. Originally posted by the basketball player in October 2013, the Vine clip has been viewed more than 13 million times. After the Cavs won the finals, the clip was repurposed by Twitter user Moe Alayan. The netizen’s tweet was favorited 5,500 times while garnering 6,500 retweets.

One reason the clip blew up online was because Kehlani sent her love to her former boyfriend. “Tough night for the city, but congratulations the most humble person I’ve ever met! @kyrieirving I love u!” she said. Kehlani’s message was liked more than 66,000 times by her 2.2 million followers. The comments section exploded, with more than 25,000 reactions. The post has been removed, but it can still be viewed on the Shade Room’s Instagram page.

Another reason it was such a big deal that Kehlani, 21, wished her ex well, especially after his NBA win, was because she was reportedly caught cheating on him with singer PartyNextDoor in March. She was dragged on social media for reportedly betraying the Cavaliers star. She was subsequently hospitalized after apparently attempting suicide.

Irving addressed the apparent suicide attempt on Twitter when the drama didn’t die down. “It’s been hard to see what’s been going on and not address the truth. I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all of this nonsense that could have been avoided, but me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out,” he said, referring to a photograph PartyNextDoor posted of himself and Kehlani in bed.

“It’s unfortunate that it’s received so much attention, but it’s become bigger because of a post that was misunderstood,” said Irving, 24. “Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family. My only focus the game I love to play every night.”
