Ladies dominate MTV Video Music Award nominations

It will almost assuredly be ladies night this year at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Videos from Beyonce and Lady GaGa tied for the most nominations for the mooman trophy with nine, while former teen queen Britney Spears’ videos were close behind with seven.

First time nominees include Wisin Y Yandel, Drake and Kings of Leon and Asher Roth.

The awards show is set to air September 13.

As always, MTV is leaving out some details about future performers and presenters at this year’s show, pending last minute changes. However already set to host is Russell Brand who returns for his second stint. Performers include Green Day, P!nk, Taylor Swift and Muse. Presenters include Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and Chace Crawford.
