Lady Gaga rang in 2012 the only way she knows how -- dressed in a glittering black cage, performing her hits for New York City.

The sensational pop star sang a medley of her biggest songs from 2011 on New Year's Eve in Times Square. As with most other Gaga performances, this one was filled with wild costumes and fierce dance moves. She belted out Heavy Metal Lover, Marry the Night and Born This Way before an audience of thousands in the heart of the Big Apple.

The 25-year-old showed off her svelte body in a skin-tight jumpsuit.

Later in the night, Gaga dressed in jeweled silver Versace outfit complete with a hermit-crab headpiece while helping New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg drop the New Year's Eve ball. Bloomberg was dressed in a white sweater with an American flag in the center. The two certainly made for an interesting pair.

Gaga took to Twitter to express her excitement. I'm so looking forward to ... dropping the Ball with Mayor Bloomberg! What an honor as a New Yorker!

The Born This Way singer performed at two New Year's Eve celebrations - the 40th annual Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and the Japanese program Kohaku Uta Gassen, reported MTV News.
