Lamar Odom’s health continues to improve. At one point, four of the basketball star’s vital organs were failing, but now doctors have called off a kidney transplant, TMZ reported Friday. Additionally, Khloé Kardashian’s husband will be off six hours of daily dialysis.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star was moved from the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles Thursday night because his kidneys showed major signs of improvement. The organ problem could have been life-threatening, TMZ wrote, and doctors are said to be shocked by his improvement.

On the downside, Odom’s motor skills are still damaged after he had 12 strokes. He will continue to undergo therapy to regain his strength.

Although "he still has a long way to go," Odom is making progress, a source told People magazine Thursday. "He is doing very well and continues to be a fighter. He hasn't given up once, and this will really help him in the future. ... After therapy, he is able to take a few steps with help."

Odom, 35, is also able to make his own medical decisions, TMZ wrote, which comes with a double-edged sword. His “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star wife has been at his bedside since his medical scare, but she reportedly attended a basketball game in secret to watch her boyfriend, Houston Rockets guard James Harden, play ball.

Kardashian, 31, shocked fans when she called off her divorce to Odom. But it had nothing to do with wanting to start over with her husband, she told People Wednesday. It was only about helping him with his medical decisions. “It's not even in our brains thinking about us as a couple or having a relationship right now,” she said for the magazine's cover story. "It's out in the media that we are back together, but I wish people [would] understood that's not in our thought process right now."

Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel Oct. 13 after reportedly overdosing on cocaine. He was rushed to the hospital and given a “50-50” shot of survival. Days later, he awoke from the coma to see Kardashian by his side. Odom has not released a statement since he was hospitalized.
