British singer Amy Winehouse, 27, died on Saturday after a long battle with drugs and drinks at her London home. The singer was pronounced dead after police called at her home in North London. She became the most recent music star to join the ’27 Club’ which includes rock legends Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain.

Winehouse’s debut album, Frank, received positive reviews which included the Ivor Novello Award. On December 18, 2008, Frank was certified triple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry with shipments of around 900,000 copies in the UK.

Her second and final album, Back to Black, released in 2006 and won five awards at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards and tied the record for the second-most awards won by a female artist in a single ceremony with the likes of Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and Beyonce Knowles.
