With precious little time left until Stephen Colbert takes his place behind the desk as host of “The Late Show,” fans are scrounging for any information on the 51-year-old host’s upcoming late-night gig. Now, ahead of the Sept. 8 premiere, CBS has announced the guest list for Colbert's first week.

The first week of guests for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” are listed as follows (via Entertainment Weekly):

Tuesday, Sept. 8 – Actor George Clooney; Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush; musical performance by Jon Batiste and Stay Human with special guests.

Wednesday, Sept. 9 – Actress Scarlett Johansson; SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk; interview with and musical performance by Kendrick Lamar.

Thursday, Sept. 10 – Uber CEO Travis Kalanick; musical performance by Toby Keith.

Friday, Sept. 11 – Comedian Amy Schumer; author Stephen King; interview with and musical performance by Troubled Waters.

As previously reported, Colbert gave fans a small look behind the wizard’s curtain at the beginning of the month when he tweeted that Clooney would be his first guest on the Sept. 8 premiere -- joking that he needed one of his followers to please tell Clooney for him.

It seems that, although Colbert has promised to drop the ultra-conservative elitist persona that he adopted while hosting his political satire show “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central, he’s not going to abandon the political aspect of his comedy. The show will have presidential candidates and prominent business personalities in the first week, instead of the typical cadre of celebrities that most late-night shows go with.

However, that’s not to say he’s abandoning the traditional rules of late night altogether. Guests like Scarlett Johansson, who was recently named the second-highest paid actress in Hollywood; and comedian Amy Schumer, who was named one of the first hosts of Season 41 of NBC's “Saturday Night Live,” will bring a great deal of star power to the brand-new, yet oddly familiar “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
