Wednesday, the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia announced that the consumer price index or CPI rose 8.2% year-over-year in March, slower than the 9.6% increase in the previous month.

In March, food prices increased 8.2% on an annual basis, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices rose 19.1%. Transport charges were down 2.9%.

Month-on-month, consumer prices were up 0.2% in March.

In the 3 months of this year, the CPI grew 3.5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
