Lebanese militants fired at least three rockets into Israel early Thursday as the Israeli air force intensified its operations in the Gaza Strip.

The rockets exploded near the city of Nahariya wounding two people, Israeli police and emergency medical services said, according to CNN.

The Lebanon's government wary of conflict quickly condemned the rocket fire, while no group has claimed responsibility. Israel in response fired mortar shells into southern Lebanon that inflicted no casualties, according to the Lebanese Army's statement.

The Lebanese Army's statement added that its troops and the U.N. peacekeeping mission that patrols the border have taken all the necessary measures to protect the population and control the situation.

Israel's air force launched strikes against 60 targets in Gaza overnight a military spokesman said, according to CNN. The targets included a mosque which the military claims Hamas was using to store weapons and house militant operatives.
