LeBron James Trash Talk: What The Heat Star And Brooklyn's Reggie Evans Said About Miami's Title

The 10-year veteran questioned the validity of the reigning champion’s world title.

“It doesn’t prove nothing,” Evans said to the Daily News. “That was a lockout season.”

Evans, averaging 3.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, went on to say James, last year’s NBA Finals MVP, was like any other player.

“Our team is defending the Miami Heat. If our team has to defend one person, LeBron isn’t going to score nothing,” he said. “LeBron is no different from Joe Johnson or Andray Blatche. No different.”

The three-time MVP also had some choice words for Brooklyn, specifically their level of play for former head coach Avery Johnson and his replacement P.J. Carlisemo.

“It sucks that Avery had to take the hit for them not wanting to play at a high level, but that’s what it looks like to me,” James said. “They haven’t changed their offense, they haven’t changed their defense. They’ve picked it up in intensity level and you can tell they like to play for P.J.”

James first responded to Evans with 24 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in Miami’s 105-85 thumping, and then vocally after the game.

"You can't just come out and say something like that versus a champion," James said. "No one knows what it takes unless you've done it. You can't sit here and judge and talk about a team winning a championship unless you've done it. (Evans) hasn't done it."

James also tweeted: "Just keep throwing rocks at the throne, don't matter cause nothing can break my zone.”

It might have been the loss or James amazing stat line, or both, but Evans backtracked from his statements Thursday.

"Well, I didn't say it didn't prove anything. Those were not my exact words," Evans said during an interview on SiriusXM radio. "I just said they won a championship in a lockout season. That's what I said. So I never downplayed it or nothing, I just said they won a championship. That was really about it. I guess people just took it out of proportion."
