The Leftovers
Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) will relocate his family in the Season 2 premiere of "The Leftovers." HBO

With only one episode left before "True Detective" Season 2 wraps up its complicated murder mystery, HBO is setting its sights on the continuation of another, even bigger mystery -- the unexplained disappearance of 2 percent of the world's population. That's right, Season 2 of "The Leftovers" is just around the corner and a new trailer, obtained exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, reveals that even changing towns can not keep the Garvey family safe.

Here are four things we learned from "The Leftovers" Season 2 trailer:

1. The Garvey Family is Moving

After all the chaos with the Guilty Remnant in the Season 1 finale, Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) has had enough of Mapletown, New York. In fact, he thinks his family will be better off in a mysterious town called Miracle, Texas, which, allegedly, experienced no departures. However, a new town does not appear to be the end of the Garvey's troubles.

2. Meet the Murphys

When Kevin and his family arrive at their new home they are greeted by the Murphys, their seemingly friendly neighbors. But do the Murphys have other motives? When John Murphy (Kevin Carroll) suggests he and his wife have the Garvey's over for dinner, his wife asks him if he wants to "work on his birthday." What could she mean by "work?" Later in the teaser, John tells Kevin, "What you're looking for is to feel safe, but it's no safer than anywhere else."

3. Trouble in Miracle

It looks like John's children and Jill (Margaret Qualley) will hit it off pretty quickly, but the friendship could turn tragic. In one scene in the teaser, John's wife says that the children did not come home. Later, John is seen outside screaming for his missing daughter. Did Kevin bring all of Mapleton's problems to Miracle?

4. Patti is Alive?

It appears that Kevin may have even brought the Guilty Remnant with him to Texas. In a cliffhanger teaser that is sure to have fans of the show buzzing, Patti (Ann Dowd) is seen standing against the wall behind Kevin looking very much alive. The cult leader appeared to kill herself in Season 1, but, clearly, stranger things have happened in the world of "The Leftovers." Is Patti back, or is Kevin imagining things? Fans will have to wait to find out.

"The Leftovers" Season 2 premieres Sunday, Oct. 4, on HBO. Watch the Season 2 trailer below:
