Korra
Korra (Janet Varney) had to revisit an old foe in episode 9 of "The Legend of Korra" Book 4. Nick

For most of “The Legend of Korra” Book 4, Korra (Janet Varney) has been trying to get her mojo back after her traumatic battle with Zaheer (Henry Rollins) in Book 3. Despite getting the leftover poison out of her body with Toph (Philece Stampler) in episode 4, Korra still did not have the confidence to take on Kuvira (Zelda Williams). After reflecting on her battles with past enemies in episode 8, would she finally be able to regain full strength in episode 9?

Here are three revelations from “Beyond the Wilds” after it premiered on Nick.com Friday:

1. Spirits Gone Wild

The episode began with a tour group, including Jinora (Kiernan Shipka) and Ryu (Jon Heder), getting captured by spirit vines in the spirit wilds. Apparently, the vines had gotten aggressive in response to Kuvira’s harvesting at the Banyan-Grove Tree. Korra found the group, but their spirits were trapped in the spirit world and she could not meditate into the spirit world to rescue them.

Speaking of spirit vines, the world leaders had a meeting where they discussed the possibility of a preemptive strike on Kuvira after Bolin (P.J. Byrne) and Varrick (John Michael Higgins) returned to warn them of Kuvira’s plans to use the spirit vines to create a super-weapon. While Beifong (Mindy Sterling) pushed for an attack, eager to save Su (Anne Heche) and the rest of her captured family, Tenzin (J.K. Simmons) and Firelord Izumi (April Stewart) refused to attack unprovoked. The group did, however, commission Varrick and Asami (Seychelle Gabriel) to work together to develop something to stop Kuvira’s weapon.

2. Zaheer Returns

Korra, who was not even invited to the meeting of world leaders, was struggling to maintain everyone’s trust that she could help anymore. She decided that in order to finally get over her fight with Zaheer she would have to confront him again. She visited him in his mountain prison, where she came face to face with her chained-up former enemy. Zaheer told her that she needed to accept what happened to her and not let it control her, noting that he could now fly, but was in chains, while she had unlimited power, but held herself back. He wished to help her defeat Kuvira and offered to guide her into the spirit world. Once in the spirit world Korra was able to find Jinora and the rest of the group with help from Raava (April Stewart) and free their bodies back in the Earth Kingdom.

3. Opal and Bolin

After Bolin’s return, he was having a hard time winning back Opal (Alyson Stoner), who was still mad that he had chosen to work for Kuvira. However, after confessing his love for her she invited him on a secret mission that she had planned with Beifong to rescue their family from Kuvira. Eager to be back in her good graces, Bolin jumped at the opportunity.
