Martin Stein (Victor Garber) will question his future with his time-traveling buddies in Season 3 of The CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow.”

During a roundtable table interview at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, Garber revealed that Martin will embark on a soul-searching journey after he sees the overwhelming damage he and his fellow Legends have caused after literally breaking time at the end of the Season 2 finale.

“At the beginning of the Season [3], he’s concerned about the mess they’ve made and questioning really everything,” Garber said (via Hidden Remote) when asked what’s in store for his character in the upcoming installment.

“He’s kind of going through a bit of a crisis in terms of, ‘What is my place here? Should I be here?’ [He’s thinking about] Lily [Christina Brucato], his daughter. He’s thinking about his wife [Clarissa, played by Isabella Hofmann]. Even though he’s still galvanized by the idea of what they’re doing, he’s looking at his mortality and questioning everything. I think that’s the thrust of his journey this season.”

Garber revealed to Comic Book Resources at San Diego Comic-Con that Brucato is reprising her role as Lily in Season 3. “We just did a scene last week so I know she’s coming back into the show,” Garber said.

The Emmy-nominated actor went on to reveal that he was “so happy” about Lily’s introduction to the show last season. “Christina, who plays Lily, is so fantastic,” Garber said. “I love playing with her, it’s just so comfortable. That’s part of what Stein is going to be dealing with [in Season 3]. I’m here [on the Waverider], but shouldn’t I be there [with my family]? [What about] Clarissa and Lily? … For me, that’s the fun of the part. I love the personal relationships, every actor is unique and extraordinary and I feel very lucky to be a part of that.”

Aside from Stein’s reunion with Lily in Season 3, Garber is also excited for viewers to see his onscreen reunion with his “Titanic” co-star Billy Zane, who will appear as showman P.T. Barnum in an episode next season.

“It was great — it was so much fun,” Garber told ComicBook.com of working with Zane again after so many years. “I actually only knew he was doing it when I walked up to the production office and saw the cast photos on the wall and was going one by one, wondering if I knew anybody form this episode — and there he was, and I was thrilled to see him!”

“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
