“Girls” star Lena Dunham shared photos of her new tattoos over the weekend via Instagram Stories.

The actress, who has been battling endometriosis, said that the new inks gave her a sense of ownership of her body, which she doesn’t really have that much control over. In one of her stories, Dunham showed off two tattoos on her upper thigh: a rose and Kewpie dolls. The actress also uploaded a closeup image of her Kewpie dolls which appear to surround a bucket with the word “tears” on it.

Last week, Dunham also made headlines after posting a nearly naked photo of herself in an attempt to spark dialogue about body positivity. In the snap, Dunham covered her breasts with pears and her private parts with Winnie the Pooh’s bucket of honey. The actress made it clear that she made fun of her body so that no one else would have the power to do so.

In May, the director-writer-producer canceled a series of shows in the United States after suffering from complications due to her endometriosis surgery. On her official website, Dunham revealed that she suffered from the worst kind of pain because of her illness.

“After being told I was endometriosis-free after my last procedure, more disease was found in deeper spots that required immediate surgery and now physical therapy. This disease is wily and unrelenting, and I’m really blessed to have a community, both online and IRL, who let me express how hard it is. My body, which I’ve worked through all kinds of pain for many years, just doesn’t have what it takes to do this tour. Lenny is about giving 100 percent of ourselves, 100 percent of the time, and I couldn’t bear to limp through this,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Dunham opened up about her then-nine tattoos and said that there’s one design she regrets getting. While speaking with Vogue for the publication’s “73 Questions” video, she said that she isn’t very happy with the illustration of a children’s book tattoo on her body. “A drunk guy did it. It’s not great. I should get it covered up,” she said.
